TRIATHLON BC EVENT & ATHLETE INSURANCE
The insurance provided under Triathlon BC’s event policy offers $5 million Comprehensive General Liability coverage. This coverage has consistently proven to be among the most competitively priced, broadest liability policies available, accepted by Municipalities and Ministries throughout British Columbia. Where required, additional top-up coverage can be purchased at an extra cost.
Under this policy, sanctioned events provide their race participants with:
- Accidental Death coverage
Excess Accidental Medical Coverage from accidents arising at the event. - Permanent disability Coverage
- Extended Dental coverage.
Coverage is in excess, over and above other valid and collectible insurance, and is subject to a deductible. There is no age limit to this coverage. The insurance provided covers only those expenses not covered by BC Medical (or equivalent) insurance.
Please note, this coverage does not extend to personal equipment that may be damaged, lost or stolen while participating in an event.
Insurance Coverage Recap:
- $5 million event liability
- $10,000 accidental death
- $20,000 permanent disability
- $10,000 accident reimbursement (over and above Provincial coverage)
- $2,000 dental
Figures shown represent maximum disbursements, and may change at the time of each renewal (April). An insurance summary is available upon request.
Please note, coverage is limited to Canadian citizens only, holding valid day or annual membership with partner Provincial sport groups. Coverage DOES NOT EXTEND to out of country competitors.
Once an event is approved by the Triathlon BC Sanction Committee, the Race Organizer is notified, and can subsequently request an insurance certificate. No certificates will be issued prior to approval. An Insurance Certificate Request Form, available as a pdf download from the Triathlon BC website, must be completed in order for a certificate to be issued. Please expect up to 72hrs for certificate processing.
If special documents or permits must accompany the Certificate of Insurance (MOTH, Parks, Municipality, etc.), documents must be supplied by the Race Director when requesting an insurance certificate.
